The Cambridge Regional

The year 2010 event will be held at:
Trinity College
Cambridge

on Saturday 1st May @ 0930

This event is part of the Cambridge MSO 2010 event.

Please contact the organiser (Adelaide Carpenter) if you intend to
take part so that there is enough equipment (i.e. boards and clocks):

HOW TO GET THERE:

Finding the room:

The tournament itself will occur in a room accessed from Whewell's Court (pronounced "hew-el's"), the entrance to which is on the East side of Trinity Street, directly opposite the main entrance to Trinity College. There will be signs and helpers in Whewell's Court directing you to the Othello tournament room.

GETTING TO CAMBRIDGE:

By Car:
You are strongly advised to use Park and Ride facilities as city centre parking is limited and likely to be expensive. Best sites for M11 are Trumpington (junction 11) and Madingley Road (junction 13 - no southbound access). Further information about other park and ride sites can be found here. Alternatively, there are park and ride facilities at Milton Keynes (M1 J14) with express coaches to and from Cambridge. This in the past has offered overnight parking (unlike those for Cambridge).

By Rail:
The nearest station to the venue is Cambridge (CBG) which is served by.
First Capital Connect stopping and Cambridge Express services from London King's Cross (via Stevenage) and King's Lynn.
National Express East Anglia services from King's Lynn, London Liverpool Street (via Bishops Stortford), Ipswich, Peterborough and Norwich.
CrossCountryservices from Peterborough (connections East Coast and East Midlands Trains services), Birmingham New Street (connections Virgin Trains, other CrossCountry and London Midland City services) and Stansted Airport.
megatrain.com fares from GBP 1.00 my be available on selected trains from Sheffield and Nottingham to Peterborough. Using this and rebooking from Peterborough could prove to be cheaper.
A high frequency bus service runs between the railway station and the city centre - PLUSBUS tickets are available.

By Coach:
National Express (NX) coach services operate to and from London Victoria Coach Station, Luton, Stansted, Heathrow and Gatwick Airports. Infrequent direct NX services are also available to Birmingham, Leeds, Leicester, Liverpool, Manchester, Newcastle Upon Tyne, Nottingham and Sheffield. funfare tickets from GBP 1.00 are available on-line from NX website. Also there is the Stagecoach Cross County X5 service to and from Oxford and calls at Milton Keynes Coachway (interchange with NX services to North of England, Wales and Scotland) and Bicester, Milton Keynes, Bedford and St Neots rail stations, all of which may be a better alternative than rail to Cambridge. A timetable can be found here. Through ticketing may be available at rail stations and National Express agents. megabus.com fares are available on X5 route, but from Oxford only. All coaches call at Parkside - the X5 additionally calls at Magdalene Street just west of the Folk Museum (this is its closest stop to the venue - considerable closer than the train station, 1/2 mile to the northwest). The English National Concession pass is valid for free off-peak travel on the X5.

By Air:
The nearest major airports are London Stansted (STN) and London Luton (LTN). Budget airlines Ryanair and easyJet use both airports.

By local bus:

ACCOMMODATION:
If you want to stay overnight in Cambridge, we recommend searching and booking via Visit Cambridge
Alternatively - there is the following:
Citiroomz (adjacent to train station)
A number of B&B options in Tenison Road (first right off station approach) including a Hostelling International/YHA youth hostel. A number of option are also available in Kings Cross, London which may be convenient as a stopover for journeys via London.
