Cambridgeshire-based player Imre Leader successfully defended the British Championship title by beating recently crowned European Grand Prix Champion Graham Brightwell, who was also beaten finalist in 2004. It is Leader's 8th title but he didn't have things all his own way as he went down to new player Steve MacGuire in one of the games. Third place went to Jeremy Dyer who beat Michael Handel in the play-off, this his second victory against the former Cambridge EGP winner that weekend.

The inaugural women's championship was won by Elisabetta Vecchi who beat Lisa Boardman in a forced play-off. Brightwell, Leader and Vecchi all join Geoff Hubbard as qualifiers (by right) for the UK team for the forthcoming World Championships in Reykjavik.
