BEGINNERS' ARTICLES  Some articles written by a number of players, including former British Champions Joel Feinstein and Graham Brightwell (mostly Graham). These appeared in various previous editions of newsletters.

FEINSTEIN A-GO-GO (JANUARY 1990) There are some things that got lost along the way, such as the first three pages of my editorship. (Anyone too young to remember the tune can have a bonus point on the Parity Test -- see p27.)

"THE FOX" (AUGUST 1990) This one doesn't actually have a name as such. The cover, where the name would normally be found (we may have been unconventional, but there were limits) was entirely taken up by a hand-drawn picture by Jane Bhagat of the `Northern Fox', a cuddly toy whose sad fate is recorded on p26. The words `WANTED Dead or Alive' appear in the picture, but I never thought of that as being the title.

NEW YORK NEW YORK (JANUARY 1991)

YORK NEW YORK (AUGUST 1991) Exercise for the committed reader: show that the position at the top of p17 is illegal.

THE CLONING OF JOELLA FEINSTEIN (FEBRUARY 1992) have absolutely no idea what has happened to the first 13 pages. Perhaps they'll turn up in a skip somewhere and be shown on BBC2 next Christmas.

THE RUCKSACK OF DAMOCLES (AUGUST 1992) Pages 24-25 contained a hilarious cartoon by Garry Edmead and Guy Plowman. A scanner will be required for that one, or you could contact the artists, who will doubtless be delighted to supply signed reproductions to the serious collector -- for an appropriate fee, naturally.

THE KILLER BEES (JANUARY 1993) Despite appearances, pp24-29 are not here; they were written by David Shaman on some different and wildly incompatible system. Page 31 is missing too; this is less of an omission as it contained the Federation accounts for 1992, and was produced using some more appropriate package.

FORTY BILLION NODES UNDER THE TREE (JULY 1993) pp20-25 were again written and produced by David Shaman in some alien format. Another great article; sorry I can't bring it to you!

FEINSTEIN-A-GAIN-GAIN (JANUARY 1994)

THE STREETS OF ASKELON (AUGUST 1994) pp5-17 were edited by Joel Feinstein; I don't have the files.

OOH AHH TAKIZAWA (JANUARY 1995) 1995 seems not to have been a year when I was particularly well organised. The best I can do for now for the January Newsletter are these files, which are "advanced drafts" for some of the sections.

AROUND THE BOARD IN 60 MOVES (AUGUST 1995) And this is an even more preliminary draft of the August newsletter. It should be possible to do a little better, as I do have more files, not to mention the finished product, to refer to. A project for a rainier day.

PROBLEM WITH THE LIGHT (FEBRUARY 1996) Back to a reasonable level of organisation. Again, Joel Feinstein was responsible for pp6-13.

THE MOTHER OF PEARL CLOUD (JULY 1996) pp7-11: Feinstein.

THE DAUGHTER OF PEARL CLOUD (AUGUST 2000)

PLUS ÇA CHANGE, PLUS C'EST LA MÊME CHOSE (JANUARY 2001)

WHO FLIPS WITH A FIEND (JULY 2001)

BLODGY SWORDS (JANUARY 2002)

SPLODGY WORDS (JULY 2002)

WHY DID THE DAS CROSS THE ROAD? (JANUARY 2003)

LOOKS LIKE THINGS ARE FINALLY GOING MY WAY (JULY 2003)

IT'S A MATTER OF TIME(ING) (JANUARY 2004) FRONT & BACK COVER REMAINING PAGES

IF WE ALL PLAY CAREFULLY ... (JULY 2004)

SOUNDS OF THE WORLDS (JANUARY 2005)

PLAYING CATCH-UP (JULY 2005)

ON ICELAND'S ROCKY SHORES (JANUARY 2006)

AS SCARCE AS ... (JULY 2006) FRONT & BACK COVER REMAINING PAGES

ALL'S WELL THAT END'S WELL (JAN 2007)
